Categories and Entry Fees:
The NOC2009 Public Event is a 2-day competition. The fees include participation in Public Event Day 1 & Day 2 (June 6-7). It is also possible to enter only one of the days, in which case the entry fee will be half of the sum mentioned below.

H classes are for men and D classes for women.
AL classes are short (both days) but technically challenging.
C classes are short and easy and are meant for beginners.
Young open is open to every young orienteer in the age of 13-18, the course is short and easy.
For the youngest participants in classes H12TR, D12TR, H10RR and D10RR there is a continuous and clearly visible demarcation tape laid out in the terrain and also marked on the map to make their run safer. In the TR class the control points are a short distance from the demarcation tape (app. 100-200 metres) whereas in the RR class all the control points are by the demarcation tape. In case there is a of large number of entries the classes can be split into subclasses.

Of those entered, 30 best men and 25 best women from the Finnish Orienteering Federation?s online-ranking system on May 28, 2009 will be selected to the H/D21E classes. In addition, up to 15 foreign men and 10 foreign women can be selected. These will be decided by the World Ranking positions on May 28, 2009. Furthermore, the organizer can allocate 3 wild card entries to both classes. Those not selected to H/D21E class will automatically be moved to H/D21A class.

Open Event:
There is recreational orienteering on Saturday June 6, at 14 — 16 and on Sunday June 7 at 11.30 – 14, no entry in advance.
There is an Open Event on NOC/WC –courses and recreational orienteering on Tuesday June 9 at 16.30 –19, no entry in advance.
The registration for these Open Events will be made on the day of the competition, at the competition centre, before your start, for a fee of 5 ? + possible Emit card rent 3 ?.
On Tuesday June 9 you can run the NOC/WC –course of your choice and test your ability against the best runners in the world on exactly the same courses. Don’t miss this opportunity! You can choose your start time freely right after the NOC/WC-races have been completed.

Classification and prizes:
The combined time of the Public Event days 1 & 2 will be calculated to the overall classification. Prizes are given in each class according to the overall classification.
Competitors participating in only one of the days will not be counted to the overall classification.
For the Open Event on NOC/WC –courses on June 9 no prizes will be given.

Please state your Emit card number when registering. If the numbers are not given, a rental Emit card will automatically be arranged by organisers for 3 euros/day. The cards can be obtained from the Information Desk at the Event Centre. A fee of 50 ? has to be paid for a lost rental card.

Maps and terrain:
6 colours, scale 1:10 000, contour interval 5 m. Made by Jussi Silvennoinen 5/09. Forest land with detailed bare rock areas with moderate slopes and some marshes. Very few roads and paths.
Competitors will keep their maps after finish, remember fair play.

Directions:Signs directing to the Event Centre from the Salo-Turku road nr 110: about 6 km from Salo to the west, on the junction to Angelniemi (road number 1835). 60° 22? 37.096?? N, 23° 0? 53.394?? E

Approximate driving time of 30 minutes from the junction. Parking:
Please allow for plenty of time for arriving to the Event Centre due to its location at the end of a small village road. On Saturday June 6, parking in the Event Centre for those who have arrived before 14.00. Please observe that from this parking you can not leave before 16.45! For those arriving later than 14.00 and for those wishing to leave before 16.45, a road side parking app. 1,8 – 2,5 km from the Event Centre. On Sunday June 7 and on Tuesday June 9 all parking in the Event Centre. No parking fees collected. On June 10 no organized parking will be arranged but there are numerous free parking halls in Salo city centre right next to the Event Centre for NOC/WC Sprint.
Catering:
In the Event Centre, meals and refreshments will be available at a restaurant and stalls.

Childcare:
Provided at the Event Centre. Also an activity track (Rastiralli) will be arranged where all the participants will be given a small prize.
Washing facilities:
Outdoors, warm water.
